Use SeatYourself’s mail tool to send marketing emails to past patrons

Choose the recipients

Version 1: Send to all the patrons of the last two years
  1. Log into your Seat Yourself dashboard.
  2. Click on the blue +rsvns button or the green +sales button in the Reports panel of the dashboard.
  3. Set the date range at the top so that the start date is 25 months ago and the end date is the date of your last scheduled production.
  4. Click the Refresh button at right.
  5. Click the blue +emails button near the top.
  6. Use the Message: field below to add whatever message you want to send to the patrons.
  7. Click the Preview message in new tab button to check your message.
  8. Click the Send emails button.

You can of course modify step 3 to narrow the date range. For example, you may not want to send this message to ticketholders for future shows. The date range applies to performances, not orders, so if you set the end date before the start date of your current production, you won’t be sending this email to ticketholders for current shows, even if they bought their tickets before your end date.

Tailoring the recipient list

You can tailor the list of email recipients in ways other than date.

Version 2: Send to all patrons of a specific production

This example shows how to send a blast to just the patrons of a specific production, even if there were other productions with overlapping dates. Everything is the same as in the 8 steps above, except for step 3. Here is the variation to us:

  1. Type the desired production name into the matching field at top. You don’t have to type the full name, just enough to distinguish it from other productions.
Version 3: Other criteria

You can also make use of finer grained tailor if, for example, you only want to send your blast to holders of, e.g., Senior tickets. Here are the options available via the three dropdowns just below the list of performances:

  • by ticket holder type (ticket holders who used their tickets, donated them, or got a refund)
  • by ticket type (e.g., Senior, Child, VIP)
  • by seat type (e.g, Premium)
  • by date (this date range applies to when orders were made, not when the performance was)

Customize the email to be sent

The field you use to enter the contents of the email you’re sending will contain just text. But you can use Markdown to add a small of amount of styling (boldfact and italics) as well as a graphic (your logo or the show poster). Markdown is a lightweight markup language that uses plain-text formatting syntax to create formatted text. It is designed to be easy to read and write, with the goal of being publishable as plain text without looking like it has been marked up with tags or instructions.
